Body Therapy Center: A Life Changing Experience
By Jolanda
In April 2003 I started studying at Body Therapy Center in the Fundamentals of Acupressure class. This class has completely changed my life. I continued studying Acupressure and finished the 500-hour Acupressure Program at Body Therapy Center in June 2004. After finishing the program I decided to take the NCCAOM National Exam in October 2004, and passed! So now, I can call myself a Diplomat of Asian Bodywork Therapies.
During these two years, Acupressure has become the passion of my life and I did find out its power through a healing experience with my 4 year old daughter Pascalle. Pascalle was diagnosed with asthma at age 2 1/2 and was on nebulizer treatments from that moment on.
During my studies of Acupressure I started to work on her, and it had a tremendously positive impact on her asthma. After her allergist and I saw the first results of the sessions, I decided to make a plan with him to reduce her medications and hopefully eliminate them completely. After half a year she got off the medications completely and with her next check up, about six months later, no trace of any lung damage was left! After this experience, I decided that one of my major goals would be working in a private practice with children.
Acupressure is known to work especially well with chronic diseases. Eventually I hope the Western medical world will take us more seriously and won't see us so much as a threat anymore. I am a very strong believer in Integrative Medicine so I will make a promise to the Universe to work on making this happen one day!
After being in the last Acupressure course of the 500-hour Program, the Clinical Applications course, I experienced what it felt like to work with "real" clients and I was overwhelmed with beautiful feelings of how powerful this work is. What wonderful results did we get and how beautiful and touching it was to see and feel people coming to balance!
This was the big turning point for me. I decided at that very moment that I was more than ready to start my own practice. So as of January 1, 2005 I have started to work at the Bay Tree Wellness Center in San Mateo.
You do not need to be sick to benefit from Acupressure. If you can use some balance in your life or just feel like receiving a great session, you know where to find me now!
