Success After Breast Cancer

Returning from the doctor with the diagnosis of breast cancer, I stood in front of the full length mirror and slowly undressed, letting my clothes drop to the floor piece by piece. I looked at my beautiful body. I tried to imagine what I might look like with only one breast. And scars. Fear, anger, and grief welled up inside of me. I said aloud, "How did I create this?" And I collapsed in tears.

I heard a firm, clear voice say, "You created this; you can uncreate this." I turned around, expecting to see someone standing there watching me. There was no one. I faced the mirror again and said out loud, "How? How can I uncreate this lump?"

The same clear voice said, "Take saunas, eat lemons, and drink pure water."

I listened. And then it occurred to me that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I got dressed, walked out the door, went to the store, and bought a bag of lemons, four gallons of water, and went home to take a hot sauna.

After three days of lemons, water, heat, sleep, and tears, I was in the sauna and the voice within began to guide me through a meditation. It was my voice, yet the voice was guiding me and it seemed to come from behind my heart rather than the front of my head. I began to use this meditation every time I got into the sauna. I imagined a ball of white light and directed that light from my heart into the lump and into my other organs. I continued to focus on this light as it moved through my body.

Later that day, I went to the typewriter and typed the question: "Who are you?" The voice behind my heart, which had now turned quiet and soft, answered. "I am the part of you that knows all, sees all, and is connected to all." It was a simple and sensible answer. And for the next several days I asked questions to my higher guidance and continued my silence, saunas, and listening to classical music. I asked questions about war, hunger, suffering, conflict, pain, and more. Answers came from a healing perspective and were filled with love. In the love, the energies of conflict and anger soon dissolved.

During one of my sauna sessions, around day nine, in my mind's eye I saw what looked like a brilliant ring of light with a dark circle in the middle, similar to a sun/moon eclipse—a black mass with light behind it. As I viewed this, it exploded into a million pieces and became a brilliant light inside my mind. In that instance, and without a thought, I knew the lump was gone. And yet, when I touched my breast, it was still there. Immediately, the soft gentle voice now spoke again, "The body is denser energy and it will take twenty-four to forty-eight hours to clear. Your focus now is to know that it is gone, to be vigilant with negative thoughts, trust, and have faith that it is gone."

I "canceled" thoughts of doubt, despair, and judgment, and twenty- four hours later, the lump had completely disappeared, leaving sensitive nerve endings. I fell into gratitude and spent the next few days in a state of love, still wanting to be alone in my home, relishing this expanded awareness.

I returned to my doctor on the day of my appointment and questioned her. Why didn't she tell me I could heal the lump? What was wrong with her diagnosis that indicated surgery was the only answer? She went to medical school, why didn't she tell me about this option? She simply replied, "The lump is gone. Come back for a check-up in six months." I realized in that moment that I knew something she did not, even after all of her years of medical school and training. This was a precious gift—to touch the infinite self. My life was forever changed.

Steps YOU Can Take

Here are some initial steps you can take to open and relax into this always-available wisdom, vision, talent, and passion. Look at your calendar and pick a three-day period of time. Take healthy food, a journal, and go to where you can see for miles. Put your hand on your very own heart and ask it to speak to you. Listen, not to the voice in the front between your ears, but to the voice so soft and quiet from behind your heart. "Tell me what I need to know." Continue to ask until the feelings, voice and clarity begin to flow. Write down one word at a time...or phrases. Let it emerge...

....If you have trouble hearing your inner wisdom, then get coaching on developing this skill. Begin at your core and move from that center. Your true nature and purpose will evolve. And your inner wisdom and talents will blossom forth. What is it that you love? What takes your breath away? What fills you with love? What is it that releases your passion? And during that time, open to the inner spaces of your mind, your heart, and your incredible genius and authenticity.
